Experience the Christmas Wish Process from Shoot, to Edit to Printing at this Full Day practical workshop with Heart Project founder, Karen Alsop

AIPP Master Photographer, Karen Alsop, will demonstrate each step of compositing including green screen photography and lighting, the process of cutting out and grounding, through to the perfect print.

Over the last 4 years Karen has led teams of volunteers across the world to photograph hundreds of sick children in hospitalS through the Christmas Wish program.

Thanks to the generous support of Nikon Australia, along with Epson Australia, Wacom Australia and Kayell Australia, places in this class have been heavily subsidised. The workshop is on offer for just $99 and all profits will go towards The Christmas Wish project for 2019, which this year is running in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Canada and the USA.

10:00am - Arrival, registration and welcome

10:30am - Why Composite? Presentation on the power of Photoshop Compositing

10:40am - The How To of Behind the Scenes Video and Photos

10:50am - Green Screen and Lighting Setup

11:15am - Test Shots

11:30am - Photographing with Santa and Children (we will be creating some special memories for a local family whose child is going through sickness)

12:15pm - Break for Lunch (not provided, but there are lunch options available on site or nearby, or you may BYO)

1:15pm - The Cut Out process

1:45pm - Grounding your subjects into the scene

2:00pm - Creative Lighting Techniques

2:15pm - Finishing Touches - Preparing for Print

2:30pm - Afternoon Tea

3:00pm - The Printing Process

3:45pm - Close

Refund and Cancellation policy

Due to logistics and costs and for the consideration of other students, Story Art can only provide a full refund upon cancellation within two (2) business days of the purchase date, as long as it is more than 14 days before the event.

Class Transfer

The Transfer of a class from one person to another person is allowed with adequate warning (minimum 10 business days prior to the workshop date). 


Except where stated otherwise, all workshop prices are inclusive of GST.

Student Age Considerations

Story Art accepts no liability or responsibility for anyone under the legal adult age of 18 who may enrol in a Story Art Workshop. Any paid enrolment must also be accompanied by written permission from a parent or guardian.

All persons participating in workshops do so at their own risk. Students should ensure that they have no physical or health problems which might make such participation dangerous or hazardous.

Further, Story Art will not accept liability for any loss or damage to a student’s property or injury while attending a workshop.
