Perspective is one of the most important, but overlooked elements in a convincing composite. When creating a composite I usually work on my background first and then have it available on my Wacom Companion 2 (tethered) to mock in shots during the photo session of the main subject.
Up until a few months ago I would also sketch out a plan with primitive stick figures to help me work out the angles and sizes required from my subjects.
